No. 4 "Entry into Switzerland for unvaccinated persons".

If you are not fully vaccinated and do not have proof of Covid 19 disease you have had in the last 6 months, testing is mandatory in addition to the entry form requirement.

First, some important notes for families:

No certificate requirement until the age of 15.99 years old:
Children and teens under 16 will be allowed entry without testing. They must be able to prove their age with an identification document upon request.

Accordingly, no compulsory testing for children under 16:
Whether your children are vaccinated or not, up to 15.99 years of age, they are not required to show a negative test upon entry or during their stay.

However, the entry form requirement also applies to children and adolescents of all ages. They may be included in the entry form of an accompanying adult.

Please take the following steps to prepare your holiday:

  1. Before your entry to Switzerland: Take a PCR test (not older than 72h) or rapid antigen test (not older than 48h) at your departure destination. Present the test result along with the completed entry form upon your entry to Switzerland.

  2. Swiss entry form: Fill out and submit the Swiss Covid Entry Form per person (children see comment above) online no earlier than 48 hours before your arrival. The completed form can be requested for inspection together with your Covid test at customs. You can find the corresponding entry form at the following link:
    https://swissplf.admin.ch/formular

  3. For persons with a test certificate from the European Union applies:

The negative test taken inside the European Union is valid for your entry to Switzerland.

But attention: If your test from the country of origin does not lead to an EU-Covid certificate with QR code, then you will not have access to the public areas of leisure facilities, hotels, restaurants, etc. in Switzerland. You will be scanned at the entrances to restaurants, museums, etc. with a Swiss Covid test app, which must be able to read a valid EU certificate.

So, if you do not have an EU Covid certificate with QR code despite your test, it is mandatory that you take a test at a Swiss test center on the day of arrival in order to receive a Swiss Covid certificate with QR code. Thanks to this QR code on the Swiss certificate, you will have access to the public areas during the validity period of your Swiss test.

4-7 days after your entry: A few days after your entry, you will take another PCR test or rapid antigen test in Switzerland. This test result must be reported to our county of Bern (Kanton Bern) within 2 days in the form of a negative Swiss Covid test certificate or positive test result.

Are you staying in Switzerland for less than 4 days? Then you do not need to take another test (unless you need a Swiss test on the day of arrival for access to public areas after entering Switzerland). However, it is not necessary to notify the canton.

The following test centers are available in the region and at the airports:
Test centers in Wengen, Jungfrau region and airports.

  4. For persons with a test certificate from outside the European Union the following applies

Your test certificate from your country of origin is valid for entry.

But attention: Your test from your country of origin outside the European Union will not give you access to the Swiss public areas of leisure facilities, hotels, restaurants, etc..

Accordingly, it is mandatory that you take a test in a Swiss test center on the day of arrival in Switzerland in order to have access to these locations and receive a Swiss test certificate with QR code. This is because in Switzerland you will be scanned at the entrances to restaurants, museums, etc. with a Swiss Covid test app and it must be able to read a valid Covid certificate from either Switzerland or the European Union.

Mandatory retest 4 - 7 days after entry: Once your test certificate has expired (antigen test after 48 h; PCR test after 72 h) you must retest and report the test result online to the county of Bern (Kanton Bern) - this is mandatory. Here you can see the link to report the test result:

Are you staying less than 4 days in Switzerland? Then you only need to take the test from your country of origin and the Swiss test on the day of arrival. Further tests are not necessary and there is no need to report to the canton

The following test centers are available in the region and at the airports:
Test centers in Wengen, Jungfrau region and airports.
